Bolen High
Founder & Creative Director

Founded in 2007 in West Hollywood, California by Bolen High, High Arte's business model — an integrated marketing, graphic and custom Website design firm — grew out Bolen's knowledge and love of art and design; his recognition of the Internet's primacy as the world's business platform and three decades working in the entertainment industry. There, the creative and marketing talent is hired — based on the project's requirements — on an as-needed basis. And so it is with High Arte, where staffing is tailored — project-by-project — to meet the needs of each client.

The Foundation

Graduating from Chicago's renowned Art Institute and Goodman School of Drama with a double major in theater and design, Bolen has done everything from designing homes and offices to directing "La Boheme" for Opera Theatre of St. Louis and an Off-Broadway musical version Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" with John Goodman as Operon and Nathan Lane as Flute.

As Producing Director of Charleston, South Carolina's Dock Street Theatre, he produced and directed three seasons of 24 plays and musicals and orchestrated a year-long subscription campaign that doubled the theater's audience base. In addition, he designed and supervised the restoration of the Queen Street Playhouse.

One of his more interesting producing credits was the Brooklyn Academy of Music's "The Gershwin Celebration" starring Leonard Bernstein, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rosemary Clooney, Bob Dylan, and Michael Tilson Thomas and its videotaping for PBS's "Great Performances". As part of the Celebration, he oversaw the reconstruction of George and Ira Gershwin's tandem musicals, "Of The I Sing" and "Let 'Em Eat Cake" and their concert presentation at the Academy and The Kennedy Center.

Bolen did extensive work in Europe, including producing "The Bridge – A Festival of American Musical Theatre" in Beziers, France, starring Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the original European tour and Metropolitan Opera engagement of Robert Wilson and Philip Glass's acclaimed opera, "Einstein On The Beach", and the international and U.S. State Department tour of "The Martha Graham Dance Company" to Covent Garden with Liza Minnelli, Tivoli Gardens, the Dubrovnik Festival and to Egypt, Israel and Jordan, where, in celebration of the signing of the "Camp David Accord," the company was the guest of Anwar Sadat, Menachem Begin and King Husssein.

On moving from New York City to West Hollywood, Bolen returned to school becoming certified in both graphic and Web design and opened High Arte. He is a proud member of the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Comerce (LAGLCC), the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce (BHCC), and is a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise, eligible to participate in NGLCC's corporate partners' supplier diversity programs.

The Objective

Melding the imaginative, intuitive and conceptual with the logical, practical and strategic — aspects honed over years of creating a wide variety of projects — Bolen uses his knowledge, experience and creativity to guide High Arte's clients in transforming their projects into viable — marketable — realities.

He would be pleased to do the same with your project.
