The Idea

High Arte's business model — an Internet marketing, graphic design and e-commerce Web design and development firm — grew out Bolen's knowledge and love of art and design, his recognition of the Internet's significance as the world's new business platform and three decades working in the entertainment industry.

There, the creative and marketing talent is hired — based on the project's requirements — on an as-needed basis. And so it is with High Arte, where staffing is tailored — project-by-project — to meet the needs of each client.

The Foundation

Graduating from Chicago's renowned Art Institute and Goodman School of Drama with a BFA and a double major in theater and design, Bolen has done everything from designing homes and offices to directing Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor at the Tribeca Bar and Grill and La Boheme for Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

As theater director, he was instrumental in helping launch the careers of actors John Goodman, J.T. Walsh, Dan Florek, Ernie Sabella and Nathan Lane.

As Producing Director of Charleston, South Carolina's Dock Street Theatre and Queen Street Playhouse, he produced and directed three seasons of 24 plays and musicals and designed and directed a mass marketing campaign that doubled the theatre's subscription base. He also designed and supervised the restoration of the Queen Street Playhouse.

Some of his more interesting producing credits include: the Brooklyn Academy of Music's The Gershwin Celebration starring Leonard Bernstein, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rosemary Clooney, Bob Dylan, and Michael Tilson Thomas and its videotaping for PBS's Great Performances; The Bridge – A Festival of American Musical Theatre in Beziers, France, starring Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Honey Coles; the original European tour and Metropolitan Opera presentation of Robert Wilson and Philip Glass's acclaimed opera, Einstein On The Beach; and the international, U.S. State Department tour of The Martha Graham Dance Company — celebrating the signing of the "Camp David Accord."

On moving from New York City to West Hollywood, Bolen returned to school and became certified in both graphic and Web design. He happily shares his home and life with a half-breed Briard, named Morgan.
